Join pro teams for youth sports day

Nuggets, Avs among players at Highlands Ranch event

The Kroenke Sports Charities Youth Sports Day moved its second annual event to Highlands Ranch for a day of activities for its community’s sports-loving kids.

Kroenke Sports, owner of several Denver sports teams, brings its fundraiser to Northridge Park in Highlands Ranch, where children from 8 to 14 years old can have a day of play with their favorite teams.

The event raises money for local charities and welcomes local sports luminaries, including Highlands Ranch resident Mark Randall, a Denver Nuggets community ambassador, said Doug Fulton, Kroenke Sports senior manager of fan development. Randall will be joined by former and present players to give kids the chance at a special day of play with their favorite Denver teams, Fulton said.

“We wanted to put something together to introduce kids to all of the sports we own,” Fulton said. “This is for kids of all abilities, from kids who have never played to kids who are pretty good at them.”

Participants will have the opportunity to participate in Nuggets basketball, Avalanche street hockey, Mammoth lacrosse, and Rapids soccer clinics, as well as meet Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche alumni.

Each participant will receive an official KSE Sports Camp T-shirt, pizza lunch, certificate of completion and choice of two Nuggets or Avalanche preseason tickets or two Mammoth or Rapids regular season tickets.

Parents are welcome to bring their cameras for photo opportunities at the end of camp. Water stations, sun screen and medical staff will be on site, but event organizers recommend that participants bring a water bottle, snacks and additional sunscreen.

The Kroenke Sports Charities Youth Sports Day begins at 3:45 p.m., July 29, at Northridge Park, 8801 South Broadway.

Cost of participation is $65 per child, $55 for each additional sibling. Local charities that benefit from the event include the Rolling Nuggets Basketball, the team’s wheelchair basketball league, the Avalanche Sled Hockey Program, a program for children with disabilities, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Denver.
