Second body found in remote home
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office discovered a second body in a home in Keene Ranch after gaining entry with a search warrant.
The discovery was made shortly after 8 a.m., about five hours after the sheriff’s office responded to a 911 call for a welfare check at the home. Responding deputies arrived to find a dead body in the home and immediately initiated a death investigation, said Ron Hanavan, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office public information officer.
The coroner’s office said both victims died of stab wounds.
The home is a large custom home on acreage west of Interstate 25 off of Tomah Road. Keene Ranch is marketed as equestrian property with home prices ranging beyond $1 million.
The sheriff’s office is not releasing the names of the victims, pending further investigation. The case is being treated as a multiple homicide, Hanavan said.
“At this time we are actively investigating and following every lead,” Hanavan said.
The sheriff’s office does not have a suspect in the case and asks anyone with information to contact the investigative division at 303-660-7579.
