NOVA Home Loans announced that the electronics recycling and paper shredding event it sponsored July 23 was a huge success.

The event collected over 21,400 pounds of universal and hazardous electronics waste - ultimately keeping that waste out of the landfills. Additionally, the event collected nearly four tons of paper that was shredded and recycled. To add perspective, that is the equivalent of saving 32 pine trees from being destroyed to make paper, the company said.

While the event was free, donations were accepted on behalf of Habitat for Humanity. NOVA is grateful for the generosity of participants, who collectively donated over $3,000 that day.

Jon Volpe, chief executive of NOVA Home Loans, was excited about the outcome.

“We could not be more pleased by the amount of electronics and paper that we were able to recycle for the community,” he said.
