Orangetheory Fitness, a national workout concept based in
Florida, will open its first Colorado location in early January.
Studio #1 will be in Highlands Ranch at 9559 South University
The workout itself is quite unique: the physiology is based on
Excess Post-exercise Oxygen Consumption (EPOC) - burning extra
calories up to 36 hours after you workout based on your heart rate.
As such, all participants wear heart rate monitors throughout the
class, and their data is displayed on mounted TV screens for
everyone to see. While this may sound a bit daunting, the dynamic
created by working out in a group setting has proven benefits -
support, energy, endurance and accountability.
