Q&A with coach Rogers:
What is the most exciting aspect for your team in this upcoming
season? Watching the girls learn to compete every day in
training.
What is the biggest struggle for your sport at the high school
level in Colorado? There is a big struggle to get kids to
understand what it means to give 100 percent.
What will readers in your community find most interesting about
the team this season? What will be the most exciting for them to
see? Our team’s ability to compete every time we step on the court.
It is going to be exciting to read about and watch.
Which starters are returning this season and what accolades did
they earn last year? Last season, they had a young varsity, so I am
not sure who [coach Ashley Tussing] played, and I am unaware of any
personal accolades. ... Every girl on the team has a specific role
that they will fulfill. We only have two seniors this season,
Lauren Hahan and Haley Mathinson. They set the tone for training
and our high expectations off the court. ... Every player we carry
on varsity will be stepping up their game. My two seniors mentioned
above carry a large role in training and off the court.
At this point, how do you see the league lining up? Which teams
will be the toughest this season and which should be rebuilding? I
think our league is stacked with amazing teams. Some teams who have
been good in the past are Regis, Chaparral and Ponderosa. Always
tough teams.
What may define your team in this league? We are in a tough
league and this is defined by hard competitive matches.
Anything else our readers should know about your team that was
not already asked? The goal for RCHS volleyball is to compete every
time we play. This is going to make for a fun atmosphere for our
players and fans.
