The American Heart Association (AHA) will host approximately 15,000 people at the annual Denver Heart & Stroke Walk on June 1 at Broncos Stadium at Mile High. The event will include a competitive 5K Run, Yoga in the End Zone, a 5K Walk and Survivor Mile, a “Healthy for Good” Expo, and a Puppy Parade.
The Heart & Stroke Walk is the AHA’s premier event for raising funds to save lives from this country's number one and number five killers: heart disease and stroke. Donations and registration fees help fund lifesaving research. Since the inception of the Heart & Stroke Walk nationwide, mortality rates from cardiovascular disease and stroke have plummeted by 45 percent.
Denver Heart & Stroke Walk schedule:
• 8-11:30 a.m. – Healthy for Good Expo
• 8 a.m. – 5K Run
• 8:45 a.m. – Yoga on the End Zone
• 10 a.m. – 5K Walk and Survivor Mile
• 11:15 a.m. – Puppy Parade
The 5K Run and Yoga on the End Zone include registration fees. The walks and Puppy Parade are free, but fundraising is encouraged. Individuals, teams and companies can sign up in advance for the walk, run or yoga at www.DenverHeartWalk.org.
