Nineteen teachers representing each of the Douglas County School
District feeder areas have been named as finalists for the 2010
Apple Awards.
District representatives, the board of education, Douglas County
Educational Foundation, board of trustees, Douglas County
Federation and the community selected the finalists from a pool of
78 teacher representatives nominated by parents, administrators and
peers as stand-outs in their profession. The committee based its
decisions on candidates’ credentials, instructional philosophy and
personal reflections.
Finalists will be honored during the 5th Annual Apple Awards
celebration March 6 at the Wells Fargo Theatre in Denver. The
event, which is the educational foundation’s marquee fundraiser,
will include the awards ceremony and a keynote speaker. The money
raised benefits the Douglas County School District through the
educational foundation’s Fill the Gap program, which includes
grants, school supply donations and other supports.
