Jason Reynolds, National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature, will be presented by Arapahoe Libraries virtually at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 6 in a program geared to teens and adults, where he will discuss empowering young people through literacy, followed by a Q&A. At 2 p.m. on Nov. 7, he will talk to tweens and teens about the importance of seeing oneself in stories. His books include the best-selling “Stamped: Racism, Antiracism and You.” Books may be purchased from the Book Bar. Miners Alley Playhouse in Golden will announce six shows to be presented in 2021, all planned with a choice of in-person or livestream viewing.
“Allegories of Transformation” is a new exhibition of indigenous art at the PACE Center at 20000 Pikes Peak Ave. in Parker. The art speaks of issues of the day through the use of modern techniques and themes. Curator Rose Frederick said: “The artists in this exhibition, along with many, many other indigenous artists, are tremendously accomplished.” The exhibit runs through Nov. 18. Artists are: Norman Akers, Corwin Clairmont, Joe Feddersen, Sonya Kelliher-Combs, Anna Hoover, Linley Logan, Cara Romero, Diego Romero, Jaune Quick-to-See Smith, Neal Ambrose Smith and Steven Yazzie. Own an Original
Littleton’s annual Own an Original Exhibit has a theme of “Liberating Humor.” It will be at the Littleton Museum, Nov. 20-Jan. 3, but there won’t be an opening reception due to COVID restrictions. A reservation is needed to visit, to limit number of visitors at any one time. Juror is Dr. Sarah Magnatta, who is on the University of Denver faculty. More soon on this favorite annual show.
