Big doings as Littleton festival returns

A concert and a fireworks show on Aug. 12 at Littleton’s Sterne Park will mark the start of the 2022 Western Welcome Week, the signature Littleton event that occurs each summer. Bring a blanket or chairs and a picnic to this kickoff event from 5 to 9:30 p.m. Sterne Park is at Spotswood Street and Shepperd Avenue, southeast of downtown Littleton.

Outdoor art sale

Aug. 13 is the date for Littleton Fine Arts Guild’s “Art at Bega Park” event, at 2250 W. Main St. in downtown Littleton. Western Welcome Week is underway with this annual outdoor art sale from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. — followed by a Little Jam Concert with the Cowboy Dave Band at 6:30 p.m. at Sterne Park ... (go to westernwelcomeweek.org for a complete schedule). Note: The Littleton Fine Arts Guild will also mount an exhibit at Bemis Library, 6014 S. Datura St., Littleton, “Arts and Literature,” through Aug. 30 during library hours. And — visit the Depot Gallery, 2069 W. Powers Ave., Tuesday-Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Also, LFAG’s Wild West Show is in the Stanton Gallery at Littleton’s Town Hall Arts Center, 2450 W. Main St.

On stage

Also in Western Welcome Week: “Summer Comes to the Diamond O” presented by the Encore Players at Littleton United Methodist Church at 7 p.m. Aug. 14 and 15. Directed by Annawyn Shamas. Free.

Iconic parade

Parade Day! Aug. 20 brings bands and marching groups to Littleton for the Western Welcome Week Grand Parade down Littleton Boulevard and Main Street from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Also on that day: the 62nd Craft and Home Improvement Fair, formerly known as the WWW Sidewalk Art Show, runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Main Street and side streets in downtown Littleton. Main Street is closed to traffic all day.

Live music

Live music at Tagawa Gardens, 7711 S. Parker Road, Centennial, with the Bluzinators on Aug. 19 at 6 p.m. Blues, swing and more. Presented in cooperation with Arapahoe Libraries. All ages. Food trucks will be onsite at 5 p.m. and the concert will be held inside, with chairs provided, from 6 to 8 p.m. 303-LIBRARY.

Lakewood play

Denver Modernism Week

Arvada Center

Clyfford Still Museum

Tesoro event coming

Mark the calendar: Tesoro’s Annual 1840s Rendezvous and Spanish Colonial Market will be held Sept. 10 and 11 at the Fort, 19192 Highway 8 in Morrison. Artists will sell and demonstrate their work.
