Bluebird Backcountry @ Winter Park Resort

Posted by annasteuart@gmail.com

Bluebird Backcounty @ Winter Park Resort will be a fun, welcoming, and educational day of “in-bounds backcountry.” During this experience 50 guests each day will be able to ski or splitboard on 200 controlled acres of the resort set aside exclusively for Bluebird Backcountry.

Rent backcountry equipment on site, learn and practice backcountry skills, meet new friends, explore Winter Park Resort in a new way, and generally enjoy earning your turns out on the mountain. No prior backcountry experience necessary!

Bluebird Backcountry is offering two different ticket options depending on backcountry experience level. The Plus Pass ($75) offers a structured day with group education for beginners. The Bluebird Pass ($50) provides a “choose your own adventure” option for more experienced backcountry travelers.

One-day events back to back: Saturday April 27 and then Sunday April 28.

Meet at Winter Park’s West Portal Station. Follow signs for Bluebird Backcountry.

If renting skis or splitboard onsite, please arrive no later than 7:30 a.m. If not renting skis or splitboard onsite, please arrive no later than 8:30 a.m.

Mountain access will be roughly 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. + optional apres to follow at Hideaway Park Brewery.

Bluebird Backcountry @ Winter Park Resort is for anyone who’s interested in joining our backcountry community and/or learning more about backcountry skiing or splitboarding. No backcountry experience necessary! To participate, you should be a fit and experienced resort skier (comfortable skiing all day on blue/black runs) who’s ready to skin up to earn your turns. Whether it’s your first time on backcountry equipment, you’ve been out a few times and want to learn more, or you’re a more experienced backcountry skier looking to meet new partners and have a fun day outside, there will be plenty for you to enjoy.

We will meet at Winter Park’s West Portal Station, then ski into the north end of the resort. Roughly 200 acres around the Pioneer Express chairlift will be open exclusively for 50 Bluebird Backcountry guests each day.
