There’s something about July 4, Independence Day, that makes
many of us want to share a celebration surrounded by a crowd of
happy people of all ages.
We have gathered input on festivities in the south area and
farther afield. And of course, one can just park in a high spot and
see fireworks in all directions. Note that some venues fire up on
July 3, so one could potentially make a weekend of it. A
sampling:
July 3 — America plays at 6:30, followed by fireworks at Hudson
Gardens and Event Center, 6115 S. Santa Fe Drive, Littleton. For

July 3 — “Civic Center Sounds:” The Colorado Symphony will
perform an Independence Eve Celebration at 8:30 p.m. at Denver’s
Civic Center, as part of the Biennial of the Americas. American
favorites followed by fireworks. Free. www.coloradosymphony.org.
July 2 and 3 — The Colorado Rockies games vs. the San Francisco
Giants will be followed by fireworks at Coors Field.
July 3 — The City of Glendale’s annual fireworks display will be
9:30 to 11 p.m. at Infinity Park, 4400 E. Kentucky Ave.
July 3 — Dotsero will perform at 7:30 p.m. at Tri-Lakes Center
for the Arts, 304 Colorado Highway 5, Palmer Lake. Earlier in the
day, Monument will host a July 4 parade. Tickets: $15 members, $18

Sunday, July 4 — Family Festival and Fireworks, Cornerstone
Park, Englewood. Kids activities start at 10 a.m. at Cornerstone,
Belleview and Progress Parks, which together are like a big
regional park: batting cages, fishing derby, Chinese Dragon
slide/bounce house (fee), games, face painting, duck races,
miniature golf (fee), Pirates Cove (fee) and more. At 7 p.m., the
Windjammers Big Band plays and fireworks are at @9:30 p.m.
Sponsored by Littleton, Englewood, South Suburban Park and
Recreation and Arapahoe County, with financial support from
Centennial and Sheridan.
July 4 — Firefall plays at 6:30 p.m., followed by fireworks at

July 4 — Highlands Ranch hosts activities all day, focused at
Highlands Ranch Town Center: Community Parade, bike/pet parade, 4th
of July 5 K, Celebration in Town Center, hot dog eating contest,

July 4 — Four Mile Historic Park, 715 S. Forest St., Denver,
will host an Old Fashioned July 4 Celebration from 10 a.m. to 4
p.m. Abe Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson and Uncle Sam will visit; the
Declaration of Independence will be read; the Denver Concert Band
will perform; the 1st Colorado Volunteer Infantry will drill;
mountain men and Native Americans will spin tales; horse drawn
wagons, childrens crafts, music and games. Food and refreshments

July 4 — Arvada has free family festivities at Lutz/Stengler
Sports Complex, 58th and Oak Streets, starting at 3 p.m. with a
classic car show, military display, live music, family
entertainment, kids activities, food for sale and fireworks at 9,
