Charter school community meeting

Douglas County’s newest charter school is scheduled to break ground in early March for construction during the spring and early summer. Ben Franklin Academy will be built on the corner of Lucent Boulevard and Plum Valley Lane.

Those interested in enrolling their child in Ben Franklin Academy for the 2011-2012 school year must fill out an open enrollment application through the Douglas County School District open enrollment page.

The tuition-free school needs roughly 350 students to begin classes with grades K-5; one grade will be added each year beginning with sixth grade in 2012, eventually making the school K-8.

Open enrollment ends at 4 p.m. Jan. 18. For further information, visit www.benfranklinschool.org
