Severe weather put a damper on some Fourth of July festivities in Highlands Ranch.
The holiday kicked off with a bike and pet parade, organized by the Highlands Ranch Community Association and sponsored by Children's Hospital Colorado South Campus and Schomp Automotive. Next was a community parade and 5K that drew a crowd of spectators along the streets surrounding Town Center.
A torrential downpour and hail hit late afternoon, forcing the HRCA to cancel live music at its annual celebration at Heritage Regional Park. But residents were able to later watch the annual fireworks display.
