Centennial painter Tatiana Dowell grows a beautiful backyard garden, and loves to gather, arrange and record her flowers in exuberant, expressionistic paintings. Reminder: History Camp Colorado
History Camp Colorado is scheduled at Arapahoe Community College, 5900 S. Santa Fe Drive in Littleton, starting at 9 a.m. on Nov. 2, presenting a great variety of speakers and topics. They include local historian Jack Ballard speaking about “The Amazing Ivy Baldwin” (look him up!); Historic Littleton Inc.’s president Gail Keeley’s account of “The Real Yellow Brick Road — Denver’s Brick Sewers;” Flo Tonelli and Char Nauman on “The Treasures of Roxborough”; Elsa Wolff on “Annie Oakley, Setting the Record Straight”; and much more. Symphonic songbird
Soprano Renee Fleming will appear with the Denver Symphony, along with baritone Rod Gilfrey, in “The Brightness of Light,” by Kevin Puts, based on letters between painter Georgia O’Keeffe and her husband, photographer Alfred Stieglitz. Camera club
The Englewood Camera Club will meet at 7 p.m. on Nov. 12 at Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, 6400 S. University Blvd., Centennial, to hear a program called “Under the Tanzanian Skies” by Russ Burden, who runs Russ Burden Nature Safaris. His presentation will include a discussion about light, as well as a 20-minute safari tour. Guests welcome. Free.
Denver Arts Week
Nov. 1-9 will be Denver Arts Week and there are many events planned, including “Night Lights Denver” a permanent projection mapping installation, launched by the Denver Theatre District, on the Arapahoe Street side of the Daniels and Fisher Tower on 16th Street, 1601 Arapahoe St. Projections are scheduled every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening, starting with a preview Nov. 5 from 6 to 8 p.m.
‘Still: Elemental’
The Clyfford Still Museum, 1250 Bannock St., Denver, has a new exhibit that explores Still’s work through the lens of classical Greek philosophy: earth, air, fire, water and aether. The museum offers two special tours of its new “Still: Elemental,” called “Smell This Show,” from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 15 and Dec. 6. A fall celebration for Denver Audubon is planned from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 5 at Lakewood Cultural Center, 470 S.
