Free summer concert series underway at Streets at SouthGlenn

Series to run through August after missing a year due to COVID

The Streets at SouthGlenn outdoor mall's annual Dancing in the Streets Summer Concert Series kicked off in June and continues through August.

The series returns after a 2020 hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to a news release. This is the 11th year of free outdoor summer concerts at SouthGlenn, which feature local and regional bands, the release said.

The concerts are held in the Commons Park area of the mall from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of June, July and August.

“We're thrilled to welcome back our community to Dancing in the Streets,” Tom Gendreau, senior asset manager for Alberta Development Partners, said in the news release. “After a year off, we're excited about the lineup of quality bands and memorable summer nights. We look forward to this tradition continuing on for many years to come.”

Alberta Development Partners oversees most of the SouthGlenn outdoor mall.

The 2021 concert schedule includes the following:

• July 28: Darling Revival — A Colorado band with “a Western approach to music with vast, wide landscapes,” the news release said.

• Aug. 11: The Long Run — A Colorado-based Eagles tribute band.

• Aug. 25: Face vocal band — An acclaimed all-vocal rock band.

Past performances this year included That Eighties Band on June 9, Tunisia on June 23 and Spinphony on July 14.

The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention lists attending a crowded outdoor event as safe for those who are fully vaccinated but unsafe for those who are unvaccinated. See more information here.
