Join the Highlands Ranch Genealogical Society 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at the Highlands Ranch Family History Center, 9800 Foothills Canyon Blvd #B, Highlands Ranch, CO 80126 for a presentation of “What Would Nancy Drew do in the Quest for a Missing Family?” by Ellen Kowitt.
Researching family history is a lot like solving a Nancy Drew mystery. Showcasing resources found in the text of the classic Nancy Drew series, this lecture will journey through online records found around the world just as Nancy Drew books have been published in 40 countries. We’ll go on an adventure exploring old and new tools of the trade starting with cemeteries, libraries, maps, incorporating community history, digitized newspapers, photo archives, records on the Giants, tackling foreign languages, and learning how to look for clues in untraditional resources.
Ellen Kowitt is Vice President of the Colorado Chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists, a past president of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Colorado, and a member of the Indian Peaks Chapter NSDAR. She has been researching her own family history for 25 years and enjoys helping others. Ellen lectures, publishes articles, accepts clients, and volunteers at the Colorado State Archives indexing naturalization and probate records.
Arrive early at 6:30 p.m. for networking with fellow genealogists. You never know who might have an answer to your most perplexing research problem.
And finally, if the weather is not cooperating, be sure to check for updates on the HRGS website, https://hrgenealogy.wordpress.com before venturing out.
