Highlands Ranch woman arrested on suspicion of killing infant

Peyton Green taken into custody in Wyoming after yearlong investigation

Following a 12-month investigation, Douglas County sheriff's deputies have arrested 20-year-old Peyton Green on suspicion of murder in the death of her newborn baby in September 2020.
After authorities obtained an arrest warrant, Green, formerly of Highlands Ranch, was found in Wyoming on Sept. 30, the sheriff's office said. On Oct. 5, Douglas County sheriff's deputies transported Green from Wyoming to a local detention facility where she was booked on suspicion of murder in the first degree, tampering with a deceased human body and attempting to influence a public servant, the sheriff's office said.
While details surrounding the yearlong investigation have not been made available to the public, a sheriff's office news release said that on Sept. 28, 2020, deputies were called to a local hospital regarding a woman who had been brought in for a medical emergency and had possibly just given birth. However, at the time of the call, the woman, recently identified as Green, did not have a baby with her, the sheriff's office said.
With concerns that a newborn baby might need assistance, deputies went to Green's house, where they discovered the body of a deceased infant, the sheriff's office said.
Green is being held on a no-bond hold, the sheriff's office said.
As the case is still being investigated, no other information has been released by the sheriff's office.
