Holiday events coming to Lone Tree area

The holiday season is here. Santa will be making stops across the city and a variety of other events are coming up to help people celebrate. Here’s a roundup of a few holiday activities happening in and near Lone Tree in December.

Annual tree lighting

The City of Lone Tree will hold its Holiday Tree Lighting from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 3 at the Lone Tree Arts Center. The event will feature holiday music, a hot cocoa bar, s’more roasting and a visit from Santa and his reindeer. The tree will be lit at 6:30 p.m. Visit cityoflonetree.com for more information.

Library story time

The Lone Tree Library will hold a holiday story time and sing-along on Dec. 3 at 6:20 p.m., 6:40 p.m. and 7 p.m. Attendees can also make cards for residents at MorningStar Senior Living and holiday keepsakes to take home.

Skate with Santa

At area South Suburban ice rinks, families can skate with Santa. Skate with Santa events will be held at the Sports Complex from 7 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 10, from 2:15 to 3 p.m. on Dec. 11 and from 2:15 to 3 p.m. on Dec. 12. The events will be held at the Family Sports Center from 2:15 to 3 p.m. on Dec. 11 and Dec. 12.

South Suburban is also offering ice shows at those facilities throughout that weekend. Visit ssprd.org for more information.

Park Meadows mall

The Park Meadows mall will host several holiday events and activities throughout December. On Dec. 5 and 12 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. the mall will put on a sensory-friendly event so children with special needs can visit Santa. The event takes place before the mall opens. Reservations are encouraged.

During regular business hours, Santa is available for photos every day through Dec. 24. Reservations are also encouraged.

Now through Dec. 18, people can also participate in a scavenger hunt to win prizes. There will be Saturday gingerbread decorating parties on Dec. 4 and Dec. 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., and pet night with Santa will be every Monday through Dec. 20. For more information, visit parkmeadows.com.

Schweiger Ranch festival

The Schweiger Ranch Austrian Christmas festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 4 in honor of the Austrian heritage of the people who settled the ranch in 1874. The Austrian Christmas celebration will feature Santa, real reindeer, horse-drawn carriage rides and authentic Austrian food and music. The event wraps up with a tree lighting.
