Letter to the editor: Adults should try to be adults in Douglas County

With regards to the informational meeting DCSD conducted on Aug. 4 concerning the school mask policy:

When a 15-year-old is quoted in the article with more sense than the screaming crowd of adults, it is a sign that Douglas County parents (at least those present at the meeting) have finally stepped off the ship into the abyss of “you have lost your mind.” Listen to the science of the CDC — protect your children! If you don't want to protect your children — don't!

But please behave at least as well as a 15-year-old and shut up and let the policies be stated. Unlike other metro school districts you are being given a choice to protect your children, or to not protect them. It's your choice!

The best thing about living in Douglas County is the beauty and space. The worst is that there is an extremely high percentage of people that only listen to unsubstantiated theories promulgated by extreme right wing factions.

Thank you Colorado Community Media for a well written summary of this meeting. It's important those of us who don't desire to observe this kind of behavior can stay home and still be aware of issues.
