Letter to the editor: Buck shows unpatriotic side

Buck shows unpatriotic side

It should be remembered in 2022 that Congressman Ken Buck joined 125 fellow Republicans in an assault on our democracy by endorsing a futile attempt to overturn the election results. Buck followed the lead of an indicted Texas attorney general. Was this was a way to raise money and to avoid Trump tweets, at the expense of our constitutional republic? President Trump has raised over $210 million through donations using the guise of defending his presidency from voter fraud. A very small percentage of these donations from hardworking Americans are going to Trump’s legal defense. Ken Buck either wittingly, or unwittingly, assisted in duping Colorado citizens. Maybe this is just Buck’s attempt to establish a Trump autocracy!

This was an act of unpatriotic, undemocratic hypocrisy. How would Ken Buck react if these false claims were made by a Democratic president? He would denounce the president as an authoritarian tyrant, and rightfully so. Thus far, there has been no evidence of voter fraud, in fact, every court has ruled against this assault on our democracy. The Supreme Court, with a six to three conservative advantage, indicated there was no merit to these charges. Buck wants to undermine the very election that carried him to office.

No matter what party you follow it is incumbent of every American to adhere to our constitution set forth by our founders. Let us remember Congressman Ken Buck in 2022. He cannot pretend to be a patriot if he is willing to overturn our democracy!
