Rebuild economy, safeguard planet
It’s mid-December and it’s 65 degrees today. Our Colorado weather has always been extreme, but THIS IS NOT NORMAL. We can’t hide from the truth that climate change is here, affecting us drastically. Colorado saw massive wildfires this year that set our state ablaze. The three largest in state history happened basically at the same time. Bad, badder, baddest. I kept checking on my home county, Larimer, praying the places I knew so well would not burn to ash and friends would not lose their homes.
With new leadership entering the White House in January, I hope that as a country that has always met unpleasant challenges and surmounted them, we will finally go into high gear to control climate change. This change of administration from a climate denier to a climate champion represents a new direction for our country, ready to tackle the climate crisis head on while at the same time begin healing and rebuilding our economy from the COVID-19 pandemic.
I strongly encourage Senators Bennet and Hickenlooper, and all Colorado’s congressional delegation to lead efforts to power up our economy. Create good-paying jobs by making smart investments in clean, renewable energy and electric vehicles. Support innovation and entrepreneurship that will get us there. That way we can pass on to the next generation a healthier planet and better economy.
