Orangetheory members across the Front Range and in the Denver-Metro area are coming together to raise money to help find a cure for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) -- a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord – by hosting a special in-studio class (Augie-thon) Saturday, May 11, at various times at individual studios. This year, the Colorado network of studios’ goal is to raise $150,000 across all 29 studios.
In addition, all 29 Colorado studios will be accepting donations between Wednesday, May 1 to Wednesday, May 15, during the two-week Augie Quest campaign. On May 11, local studios will offer a 90-minute class (Augie-thon) for a $25 donation from members and nonmembers alike. Class participants at select studios will be entered into a raffle for prizes and giveaways – including an Apple Watch at the DTC Studio, Apple Air Pods at the Wash Park Studio, and a one-year membership at the Uptown Studio. Proceeds from Augie-thon will be donated to Augie's Quest to help move a cure-driven drug further down the development pipeline.
Augie Nieto, founder of Life Fitness, was diagnosed with ALS in 2005 and has since made it his mission to find a cure for the disease that affects far too many people today, robbing them of their muscles and every benefit that exercise provides.
“Our partnership with Augie’s Quest aligns with our members, staff, franchisees, and our collective mission to help bring More Life to all members of our community,” says Paul Jurevich, Colorado OTF Area Representative. “Coming together as an OTF community to achieve a physical goal while, at the same time, helping folks who are struggling physically, is extremely rewarding.”
