I'm 39 and I've lived in Highlands Ranch for eight years. I was born in Texas but visited Colorado often as a kid and always loved it. I decided to make the move when the economy tanked and we decided that we wanted to live somewhere beautiful.
My wife Shelly and I are former teachers but now we own a small craft beer bar called Max Taps Co. I love meeting people, being active in the community, and of course, trying new beers!
We truly enjoy doing community-centered events that support the community that supports us. We've done some fundraisers for some of our local first responders and community members that hopefully helped their families in difficult times.
We've had some fun supporting St. Baldrick's Foundation with some crazy haircuts for a great cause. In fact, with the help Scott Priebe and JHL Constructors, we've raised around $100,000 for the foundation over the last two years. We've got another St. Baldrick's event coming up April 4. Collectively we've raised around $200,000 over the last two-and-a-half years supporting our amazing community.
Highlands Ranch is an incredibly supportive community and we could not be happier to be a part of it. It's truly amazing to see how the people here come to help each other out in times of need.
I happen to live in a unique neighborhood here where most of the neighbors are friends, so one of my favorite spots would be hanging out in a driveway with good friends. I must say I also enjoy being out on the open space trails enjoying a ride or walking the dogs. I got my start in craft beer working at Living the Dream Brewing Company and I still enjoy grabbing a beer there.
I love to ski. I ski quite a bit and being in the beer business allows me to ski on weekdays, which is hard to beat.
Prior to being a high school teacher, I worked as a cameraman at the NBC affiliate in Houston. My first job after moving to Colorado was teaching adults with disabilities work skills and helping them find job placement. I'm also pretty good at spreadsheets but I thrive in a social environment.
