Olive Garden to have complimentary wine tasting

Olive Garden announced that two of its Denver-area restaurants have undergone a renovation, with a design inspired by the charm and warmth of farmhouses in Tuscany, Italy. In celebration of the newly remodeled restaurants, select Olive Garden locations are hosting complimentary wine tastings on Nov. 9, 10, 16 and 17, for guests 21 years of age and older, including:

• 2390 S. Havana St., Aurora, Colo.

• 2520 E. Co Line Road, Highlands Ranch, Colo.

Led by Olive Garden wine specialists, guests will be given the opportunity to experience a selection of Italian wines-learning about their origins, flavors and food pairings. Among the wines featured will be Rocca delle Macie's SaSyr, a red wine that was developed in partnership with the Rocca delle Macie winery in Tuscany, Italy.

All guests of the newly remodeled restaurants will find an updated interior décor including new window treatments, hand-painted pottery, tables, chairs and booths inspired by the warm, rustic tones and design elements of a farmhouse in Tuscany. Exterior updates include freshly painted walls and signage.

"We believe the farmhouse design creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere that enhances the overall dining experience at Olive Garden and reflects our Italian inspiration," said Dan Kiernan, executive vice president of operations for Olive Garden. "In fact, everything we do is inspired by Italy, its people and its traditions."

In addition, as part of a partnership between Olive Garden's parent company, Darden Restaurants, and Habitat for Humanity International, Olive Garden has donated much of the furnishings from its remodeled restaurants to Habitat for Humanity ReStore resale outlets, which sell items to the general public and raise funds for constructing homes in their communities. As of October 2011, Darden has donated more than $1.6 million worth of items from 240 remodeled restaurants across its Olive Garden, Red Lobster and LongHorn Steakhouse restaurants.

"Olive Garden is committed to giving back to the communities where we live and work, and we're proud to partner with Habitat for Humanity and its resale outlets to help continue their efforts to provide homes for those in need," said Kiernan.
