Opera opens Highlands Ranch winter cultural series

Opera Colorado performed 'Hansel and Gretel' at church

The age-old story of "Hansel and Gretel" unfolded in a unique way during the Highlands Ranch Community Association's first winter culture event of the season Jan. 9: as an opera.

Opera Colorado, based in Denver, performed the show at Cherry Hills Community Church with five of their singers.

“Our goal is to reach as many people as possible,” said Jared Guest, manager of education and community involvement for the organization. “Opera is for everyone.”

This is the first installment of the community association's winter cultural series, which has three more events in January and February including Irish step dancers, ballet and an orchestra.

Tickets to each event are $10 online and $15 at the door, with discounts for children younger than 12, military members and seniors. More information and tickets are available at hrcaonline.org.
