More than 100 original pieces will be offered for sale by members of South Suburban Parks and Recreation’s active Pottery Guild. Two-person show
Joyce Shelton, whose “Earth Mother” was watercolor Best of Show in the 2011 Own an Original, and Carol Pierce, whose “Ollas VI” won Best of Show in oils, will open a two-person show on Sept. 21 at the Littleton Museum, 6028 S. Storytelling festival
Douglas County Libraries’ Annual Storytelling Festival will be held in Castle Rock and Highlands Ranch at 7 p.m. Sept. 21-22. Nationally known storytellers Joe Hayes, Priscilla Howe and Colorado-based Pam Faro will spin tales at the events at Mountain Ridge Middle School, 10590 Mountain Vista Ridge, Highlands Ranch. The free, family-oriented events will be complemented by afternoon workshops for adults and kids on both dates at Douglas County Libraries, 100 Wilcox St., Castle Rock. (Also free.) Classic songs

‘A Day in Pompeii’
“A Day in Pompeii” opens Sept. 14 at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, 2001 Colorado Blvd., Denver. It runs through Jan. 13, 2013, and offers a look at life in this ancient city before Mount Vesuvius erupted on Aug. 24, A.D. 79. Aid to Guatemala
Friendship Bridge, a nonprofit that serves women of Guatemala, will benefit from an exhibit of photographs by Benjamin Rassmussen at “Exposure 2012: Friendship Bridge in Guatemala,” from 6-8 p.m. Sept. 24. The event will be held at Vertigo Art Space, 960 Santa Fe Drive, Denver. The $25 admission includes drinks and appetizers and all proceeds go to a microcredit and education program, with groups of seven to 25 women forming Trust Banks.
