What makes you the best choice for this office?

I was elected to the council because my fellow townspeople wanted change. They wanted someone sitting on the dais fighting for them and not simply approving ordinances and subdivisions. They wanted someone to listen to them in public hearings without coming in with a predetermined vote and take their suggestions and concerns seriously. I am committed to listening to what Parker residents have to say and will always support and promote their best interest. I work for the people of Parker. That is what makes me the best choice as the next Mayor of Parker.

If you are elected, what issue will be at the top of your agenda?

At the top of my agenda will be the repeal of the grocery sales tax. This tax is more than $5 million of the town's annual revenue. Elimination of the grocery sales tax is equivalent to a reduction in the sales tax rate of .25% from 3.00% to 2.75%. Only Castle Rock and Parker tax groceries. All the other towns and municipalities in Douglas County— Castle Pines, Lone Tree, Larkspur and Douglas County government — do not tax groceries. This puts over $5 million back into the Parker economy for families to spend in Parker.

If you are elected, what must you accomplish in order for you to consider your term a success?

In order to consider my first term as mayor successful, the Town Council must remove the burden of the grocery tax— freeing up over $5 million annually for Parker residents. the Town Council, working with the state Legislature, must exit the Regional Transportation District and stop spending $11 million annually for less than $1 million in services. Lastly, Parker must have a meaningful economic development program partnering government with both private sector and community organizations to build a stronger base for both small and large business — while always supporting our locally owned proprietors.

In your view, what is (or should be) the role and responsibility of the mayor of Parker?

The role of the mayor is to act as the presiding officer of the Parker Town Council and chief spokesperson of the town. The role also is to advocate for the nearly 60,000 people that call the Town of Parker home. As your mayor, I will propose and lobby the Town Council to enact legislative actions on behalf of the residents of Parker—including removing the grocery tax to put over $5 million back into the economy and getting the Town out of RTD and create our own transportation solution— saving millions.

Why are you seeking this office?

Albert Einstein said, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results." The same is true in our elected leaders. If we keep electing the same people, we get the same results. That is why I seek this office. I have been working hard for the residents of Parker since elected and I am proud to be considered a common-sense leader who gets things done. I will be honored to be accountable to you and proud to work for you as your mayor.
