The second round of the Class 5A boys soccer playoffs ended the season for four south metro teams on Nov. 6, with only Regis Jesuit and Grandview advancing.
Jackson Isaacs scored in the second overtime period as Pine Creek, seeded 18th, upset second-seeded Cherry Creek, 1-0.
Third-seeded Rampart used a second-half goal from Oboyo Kuot to defeat No. 14 Rock Canyon, 1-0.
Connor Crookham scored for defending state champion Arapahoe, but the 12th seeded Warriors were ousted by No. 5 Boulder, 6-1.
Grandview, last season’s state runner-up and seeded seventh this season, got two goals by Keith Bates and posted a 2-0 shutout win over 10th-seeded Castle View.
Luke Galan and Brendan O’Toole scored the goals as Regis, the sixth seed, notched a second-round playoff win over No. 22 Liberty.
In quarterfinal games played on Nov. 9, Regis Jesuit advanced to the semifinals with a 3-2 win over previously unbeaten Rampart, but upstart Pine Creek pulled another upset with a 1-0 shutout over Grandview.
Eli Hilt `s second half goal was the game winner for Regis, which got first-half goals from O’Toole and Casey McCloskey.
The Raiders (15-1-2) will face Pine Creek (12-5-1) in one of the semifinal matches on Nov. 13 at Echo Park Automotive Stadium in Parker. The state championship game will be played on Nov. 15 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City.
