Brisk weather, blue skies, 2,000 fellow runners and a good cause
came together at the Highlands Ranch Chamber of Commerce’s Turkey
Day 5K.
Runners started in waves, with the five-minute milers in front
trickling back to the walkers with strollers and leashed dogs.
“I’ve never seen so many dogs out here,” said Jamie Noebel, who
was snapping pictures for the community association.
Fashion is never a high point on food holidays. But the
stalwarts of plush couture were present with inanimate versions of
turkeys live and roasted.
Yes, perched on their heads, proudly, complete with frills, the
white chef-hat looking caps for the ends of the legs.
Back to the runners, the first ones finished just less than 17
minutes. Some walkers clocked in at close to two hours.
Some proceeds from the run will go to the Colorado National
Guard Foundation.
The Highlands Ranch Community Association run series starts Feb.
7, 2010 with the Super Bowl 5 K.
