Douglas County School District launches search for superintendent

Posted

The Douglas County School District has moved forward in the process of hiring a permanent superintendent, selecting Frederick Andrews as its search firm, according to a Feb. 10 news release from the district.

Thomas Tucker resigned as superintendent in September, citing personal and family matters. The school board selected Corey Wise, executive director of schools, to fill the role of interim superintendent.

In its search for a permanent leader, the school board will focus on a regional — rather than nationwide — search, "in hopes of finding an internal or local candidate with strong ties to the DCSD community," according to the news release.

The district is seeking input, through surveys, from the community about the characteristics and qualifications sought in a superintendent. Surveys must be completed by Feb. 23.

The community will have a chance to meet the finalists for the position during forums in early April, the news release states.
