After the Douglas County School District released students about an hour early Tuesday, Oct. 29 due to inclement weather, some students took the opportunity to hit the slopes — or at least the hills.
About 15 kids and parents, bundled up to their ears, gathered at Wildcat Ridge Park shortly after school let out and tried out the snowy hillside.
Some kids tried sledding backwards, in pairs and even without a sled at all. There were races, tumbles and lots of laughs on the hill in spite of record low temperatures for this time of year.
After a few hours of sledding, as things slowed down and hands got numb, most families headed in for a warm dinner.
