Senior services foundation awards grants

The Douglas County Senior Services Foundation has awarded $16,500 in grants to local service organizations that serve the senior population in Douglas County.

“We are very fortunate that all the donations that we receive are matched dollar-for-dollar up to $10,000 by the Douglas County Board of Commissioners, helping us to maximize the impact we have in our community” Brian Kirstein, secretary for the senior services foundation, said in a news release.

Grants were given to the Parker Senior Center, Sky Cliff Center, Neighbor Network, Hope & Help Center and the Castle Rock Senior Activity Center. Care management, meal programs, facility improvements, and emergency funds are integral parts of what the foundation supports.

“We cannot do this without the support of the community” said Sandy McCurdy, senior services foundation vice president. “We are deeply thankful for all of the donations and the continuous support that we receive from both businesses and private individuals. The support of our community is essential to our success.”

The awards were presented Dec. 14 at the foundation's annual grant award ceremony.

Established in 1993, the Douglas County Senior Services Foundation funds programs that aim to improve the lives of and services to seniors residing within Douglas County. The goal of the foundation is to ensure that local seniors can thrive in their golden years and have access to the services they need.
