The Roxborough Village Metropolitan District is conducting a community meeting to discuss the design for a 13,000-square-foot skate park.

“The skate park is being built with $200,000 from capital reserves from the Roxborough Village Metropolitan District and $200,000 from Great Outdoors Colorado lottery grant,” David Peak, district manager said. The GOCO grant was obtained through an application process allowing cities and districts the opportunity to improve their parks and recreation facilities.

The location for the skate park is in the central Roxborough Village Park, north of the tennis courts. It will contain both “bowl and street elements” for the skateboarding enthusiasts.

In addition to the actual skating elements of the park, there will be a plaza area, a new open-air picnic shelter with tables, a trail that connects the north and south parking lots and other landscape enhancements.

The district also is considering additional improvements to the central Community Park. They would include water conservation measures to replace turf with drought-tolerant materials along with reduction of mowing operations.

Other recreational equipment is under consideration in the proposal such as new ball fields and enlarged playgrounds.

The meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. Dec. 9, at Roxborough Intermediate School, 7370 Village Circle East, Littleton.
