Students honor 9/11 victims

A group of Highlands Ranch High School students placed thousands of small American flags in a grassy field near University Boulevard and Cresthill Lane. The 2,977 flags represent each victim of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

The students are members of the school's Young Americans for Freedom chapter, a project of Young America's Foundation, which brings together students who advocate for conservatism, according to the foundation's website.
