Finance managers rarely get things named after them, but Bruce Lebsack, a 28-year veteran of Metro District and the director of finance there, is also a youth coach and a player.

This year, the district decided to honor a couple of employees and rename Redstone Park tennis pavilion and Springer Park after Lebsack and Jeff Case, an engineer with the district, respectively.

While Springer Park’s renaming drew fire from neighbors at a recent meeting and is under evaluation, renaming the tennis center has not pulled negative comments.

Lebsack oversees all the financial matters for Metro District. His work has increased the district’s credit standing, refinanced bonds to save the district hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years, and generally kept the district on financial track. He developed the financing to build the tennis center originally.

The rededication will be at 9 a.m. March 14.

Following that will be the dedication of the new backboard, donated by the Highlands Ranch Park & Recreation Foundation and Colorado Tennis Association.

The rest of the day centers on the courts with a series of drills and a Rapid Rally competition for players age eight to 13.

The tennis center is part of Redstone Park, 3280- Redstone Circle, next to Shea Stadium on Town Center Drive.
