Trotting into Thanksgiving in Highlands Ranch

Highlands Ranch's 17th annual Turkey Day 5K was greeted by cool weather and a bit of snow on the ground. The run/walk offered a chance for racers to work up an appetite for the Thanksgiving meal. Some competed in costume, brought their dogs or pushed strollers.

The family-friendly event, which started and ended near Shea Stadium, benefits the the Douglas County Fallen Officer Fund. Panorama Orthopedics & Spine Center was the title sponsor.

Brian Willie of Rocky Mountain PBS, an area resident, cheered on the racers and provided water before tending to his cooking duties and captured these Turkey Day images.
